The course is designed for experienced scientists and PhD students seeking advanced knowledge in the field.

This is a Numerical Model Training Course designed to equip newcomers with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively use the ICON model. There will be theoretical and practical parts with extensive hands-on sessions about the atmospheric component of the ICON modelling framework and the Numerical Weather Prediction (NWP) physics package. The lectures, including but not limited to topics like dynamics, microphysics, radiation, turbulent transfer, soil and external parameters, and aerosols and reactive trace gases, will provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of weather prediction modeling.

The workshop will be organized by DWD in collaboration with the natESM project @DKRZ.
